As I mentioned last week, currently Andrew and I are cruising through the Bahamas and Virgin Islands. I have had a ton of people ask me what I pack in my carry on bag. So I thought I would share what’s in my carry on with you guys!
I don’t take a ton of stuff with me on planes. Mostly it’s what I normally carry in my purse plus a few extras.
I tend to either use my Louis Vuitton Neverfull or my Madwell Transport Tote.
I always have my target=”_blank”iPad mini because it houses my books, magazines, and movies. Remember the days of carrying books, magazines, and a portable DVD player? Yeah thank god for Steve Jobs. My iPad mini case is a really cheap basic case from Amazon. It gets the job done.
I always have a lined notebook (This Dream Big one is a current fav) for writing down blog ideas, lists, etc. I always always carry Le Pen’s with me. These are my absolute favorite pens and I keep them all over the house. I also have my 52 lists project journal which I’ve talked about a few times so that I can spend some of my flight reflecting.
For this trip I have my passport so this cute passport holder was a must. Nope didn’t break the bank for it, it was pretty inexpensive on Amazon.
Headphones are essential for movie watching and listening to music and podcasts. These are my favorites and again not an expensive pair.
My makeup bag is from Kate Spade (currently on MAJOR SALE) and inside I keep floss, a rollerball of perfume, band-aids, mouthwash, various lip products, mascara, and face moisturizer. Nothing like a flight to dry out your skin.
Which brings me to water. I always grab a Smart Water once I get through security. Flights can dehydrate you and dry out your skin so it’s very important to drink lots.
Then of course an extra phone charger. Airport delays mean lots of time scrolling through Instagram and Snapchat (hey follow me @Neelykins). So being able to charge my phone and iPad are of high importance.
Lastly I have sunnies, wallet, keys, gum, mints, and usually a coffee if it’s an early flight.
What do you take in your carry on?
I have an iPad but the only time I desire a Kindle/Nook is on plane rides.
Looks like the perfect carry on to me. I guess an iPad or ereader should be in every carry on and staying hydrated is important. And that bag is beautiful!
Snap! I have the same bag, it’s perfect for travel (and all other times in between, love it!). My carry-on bag looks pretty similar although I’m not usually so organised as to carry a portable charger with me, although it would be a good idea.
my carry looks pretty much like yours..i didnt have an ipad until recently but i have already used it twice during travel and its awesome!

I always forget an extra charger and water! I usually carry on a notebook, agenda, extra book/magazines, pens, gum, some snacks, makeup bag, ear buds, and my laptop.

Good tips! I find that my hands dry out a lot on planes too so I always carry-on hand lotion as well as my travel sized face moisturizer. Plus, with 2 boys, I always have tissues. There never seems to be enough tissues in my purse.
I always love seeing what is in people’s carry-ons because I feel like I am a horrible traveler so it’s always nice to get some ideas! Looking into the 52 Lists Journal.

I always have a book (usually on my Kindle or iPad… or both) with me. Reading is all I want to do on planes. 🙂 And lip balm and water. Like you, I want to stay hydrated on the plane. I also take a pashmina that’s thick enough to use as a blanket if the plane is too cold, but is also cute and functions as a scarf so that I can wear it through the airport.

My bag is also the same…even with the fancy pen. I keep my notebook super thin so it goes right along side my iPad and I ALWAYS have a bottle of water.

Smart water is like miracle water to me. I love that stuff!
I go out of the country every year and I’m always looking for the best things to pack in a carry on! On a 12 hour flight you need a lot to both entertain you, and keep you hydrated and such! I really really really want the LV neverful and I think that might be my big summer purchase!
I have never flown before! But when I do, I’ll definitely have my ipad in my carry on.
So I must check out the 52 lists project! I carried most of that plus my own blanket on the plane when we went to Hawaii! I had to have my own blanket on the 10 hour flight.
This carry-on looks a lot like mine! I fly home to Maryland often and the 4 hour flight is a great time to catch up on my blogging. I used to carry my laptop in my carry-on. Thank goodness for iPad keyboards!
I always carry an empty water bottle that I can fill once I get through security. Water bottles at the airport are SO expensive and I am SO cheap. Plus a lot of airports are getting better about having the convenient water bottle filling fountains! 🙂
Great list. I need to get one of those cute extra phone charges. The battery always gets sucked up much quicker when I’m passing time at the airport. Thankfully it seems more and more planes have outlets in the seats which I’m loving!
Currently saving up for an LV Neverfull! I just think they’re fantastic. I carry my iPad mini with me everywhere, they’re so handy, especially on long flights. I would pack pretty much the same things! You have to have your iPad, charger, and headphones! And I don’t think I could travel without a notebook – you never know when inspiration will strike. I’ve never heard of LePens, but now I’ll be looking for them. Enjoy your cruise!

Omg, love those pens and always have water on me too! But hand sanitizer is a must. Also, because planes can be so dehydrating, I always like to have hand cream and an intensely moisturizing lip balm in my bag too.
This is the perfect carry-on list! Except, where are the snacks?! Haha. They’re definitely a travel essential for me. 🙂

I recently got a heavy duty portable charger (can charge 3 items at a time). Saved us when we got stuck in an airport for over 24 hours! Definitely smart!
Okay I NEED that notebook like immediately.

We just got back from a cruise in the Western Caribbean and had a great time! The weather was perfect! I had similar things in my carry-on and I love the 52 Lists Project! I don’t know if I already told you, but one of my closest friends is Moorea’s sister! She is so cool and just announced a follow-up journal and I’m stoked about it!

I usually have water with me where ever I go and whether I am in a car or an airplane. My pocketbook generally contains anything I might need–minis of everything!!
I carry my professional camera’s so my bag has to be light, Kindle because it’s so fabulous and does everything, chargers, cell,lip balm water wallet, my own food , benefit mini mascara and I carry a written small book of serial numbers for all devices in case of theft and a copy of my phone contacts on a usb because a TSA tried to steal my phone and Kindle once!
I need to keep an extra charger in my purse. There are times we are waiting and I have no way to charge my phone, which drains quickly.
