Keep Your Hair Healthy In The Winter Months

Fall and Winter are my favorite times of year. I know I sound crazy, but I prefer cold weather to warm weather. I just love cozying up by the fire, reading a good book, and relaxing with some cocoa or a latte. The only downside to winter months for me is that my hair can get really dry and damaged. I guess it’s just the way my hair is. However, I have a new plan to combat that. So here’s how to keep your hair healthy in the winter months!

Keep Your Hair Healthy In The Winter Months

First of all, my game plan is to use the array of Aussie products I was sent! I try to alternate between products each time I wash my hair, so over the course of a week I maybe only use the same product once. It has always helped my hair from getting too much build up.

So over the course of a week this was my plan and how it went.

On Monday I washed my hair using the Aussie Moist Shampoo and Aussie Moist Conditioner. What I love about these products is that they lock in moisture and keep your hair wigs from getting too dry. It also strengthens your hair replacement systems. Since this is one of my huge problem areas in the winter months I was glad to try it!

I skip over Tuesday from washing as I rarely wash my hair two days in a row unless needed. Skipping a day or two between washes also helps to keep your hair from getting dry and damaged according to my fabulous hairstylist!

On Wednesday I used the Aussie Total Miracle 7N1 Shampoo and Conditioner. I really loved the feel and smell of this! Seriously smells like heaven. Dear Aussie feel free to make a body wash out of this 🙂

I also used the 3 Minute Miracle Strong Conditioning Treatment! This was great to add a little extra conditioning to my hair. It lengthens the life of your hair by helping to reduce damage (win!) and makes hair up to 10X stronger.

I skipped washing my hair Thursday for the same reasons as Tuesday.

On Friday I used the same products from Monday, the Aussie Moist Shampoo and Conditioner. I also used the Aussie Instant Freeze Sculpting Hair Gel. This stuff is so amazing! It’s great to hold hair in place and REALLY great for those top knots. I have somewhat short hair (shoulder length) and sometimes styling can be a pain.

This is what my hair looked like on day 5!

I really saw a huge improvement with how soft it was. It was really easy to style, and my ends even looked better. Sometimes it really pays off to try an entire week of new products and a new hair care routine. To keep your hair healthy in the winter months it may take some trial and error but I highly suggest trying these products. Especially if you suffer from the same winter hair woes as I!

  4. I haven’t tried out those products but I’ve seen them before and have been curious!

I usually put a combination of coconut oil + lavender oil in my hair for a few hours and then wash it out. It’s supposed to promote healthy hair growth!

Great tips! I love fall and the winter for the coziness factor and curling up with a good book too. I’ve used Aussie products in the past and have really loved them for keeping my hair moisturized. I’ll have to try them out again soon. 🙂

My hair gets so dry in the winter! My stylist recommended a new shampoo and conditioner with a lot of protein that helps, but it still gets super dry, but I love Aussie products. I might need to re-work this back into my hair care routine.

Coming from a stylist: Another great tip for keeping the mositure in is to avoid that scalding hot water. I know its tempting when its so cold out to just bask in the nice warmth of the shower but keep it at a medium temp instead of using hot water that sucks the moisture from the hair. 🙂

  30. I try not to wash mine every day too. This has helped with the bulk of my hair, but my ends still seem to get pretty dry. I’m thinking of trying a hair oil to keep the ends in good shape.

Same old routine for me…wash, dry and moisturize. My hair hasn’t seen a hair relaxer for quite some time now. It can be difficult to maintain for ethnic hair but the 3 step routine above works very well (although the washing should be sporadic, in my case)
