Minimalist Easter Basket Ideas For Kids

Hard to believe we are now approaching Easter. While it’s still over a month away the stores are full of Easter goodies and my mind is on Easter baskets. With Liam just having a birthday, Christmas still fresh, and my kids needing NOTHING. I am trying to be pretty minimal for their Easter baskets this year. Lots of things they NEED vs just crap. If you are looking for minimalist Easter basket ideas for kids- I’ve got you!

Books: My kids’ Easter baskets always have books! Liam is doing early readers right now to practice his reading and Charlotte loves any books with ballerinas.

A stuffed animal: Even though this is not something my kids need I will usually put a small lovey in their Easter baskets. Both kids really love them.

Things they need: Usually this means new cups for water, underwear, a hat, etc. One year for Liam I put a pair of Natives because his were too small. I have also been known to put their favorite snacks that we would buy anyway.

Things for summer: I almost always put a swimsuit in their Easter baskets. They need them for summer anyway and this way we have them and are all set. Other fun ideas: bubbles, sidewalk chalk, goggles, and pool toys.

Toiletries: A new toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, bath bombs, etc. Anything you’d normally use but if you can find a fun Easter or spring version of it that makes it even more fun!

Easter baskets do NOT need to be extravagant and I have learned that over the years. Your kids don’t really care and just get excited to open things even if they are practical!

We don’t really do Easter Baskets in the UK (although they are getting a much bigger thing) but we do provide lots of Easter Eggs (which I don’t think is a big thing in the states), some years I will remember to roll eggs down the hill and then we do Easter Lunch as well. Christmas and Birthdays are for gifts in our home and Easter is all about the Chocolate and the Food 🙂

I have such fond memories of Easter egg hunts with my mum when I was a kid. In fact, I still have a stuffed toy to this day that was part of an Easter scavenger hunt!

I like the idea of going minimal. These are great ideas! Holidays have gotten out of control; I see people posting to facebook that their kids got a trampoline, bike, Xbox, etc. for Easter. It’s too much!

Oh my gosh! I love these Easter baskets ideas. Better to give them things that they need instead of candies.

Thank you for giving us ideas on what we can put in our Easter baskets. I am thinking of not giving away chocolates this season coz they are no good for kids. These options you’ve mentioned are very achievable.
