Most Used Baby Items For New Moms

Liam is four years old now and Charlotte turned one in November. I like to think at this point I know the items someone needs when they have a new baby. It can definitely be overwhelming because there are just SO MANY OPTIONS! Plus so many opinions! I wanted to share with you what I think the most used baby items for new moms are. These are things we used and loved with both and they both loved too! If you need to get a baby gift soon or register for yourself, this is the post to read.

Most Used Baby Items For New Moms

Most Used Baby Items For Sleep:

This Homedics sound machine is used for every nap and at night. We only use the white noise setting but it has others as well.  Both of my kids could not sleep without this.

Monitor: We have cameras in the kid’s rooms but we wanted a monitor we could carry around the house, have in our bedroom, even take into the backyard if we are out there. We LOVE this V-tech Baby Monitor. The price is great and it works amazing.

The DockATot was wonderful when the kids were newborns. We NEVER used it in the crib as our pediatrician didn’t recommend it. But it was great the first few weeks for the couch, our bed if I was doing laundry, and even our bathroom floor a few times when I needed to shower.

Liam loves his lambie. Charlotte has a pink one too! We have MANY of the angel dear loveys and they are amazing! I suggest have a few backups!

The Swaddle Up swaddles were great for Liam! But I did quickly learn that every baby is different. For Charlotte, we ended up using Kyte baby sleep sacks after she was done being swaddled and now at 16 months she still sleeps in one.

Our Keekaroo peanut changer continues to be the best money we spent. It’s a little pricey but if you think about buying a changing mat, and several covers it’s the same cost. This wipes down with baby wipes and is so comfortable!

Most Used Baby Items For Feeding:

Aden and Anais burpy bibs are the best ones ever. I tell everyone to get them and I give them as baby gifts all the time. They are insanely absorbent and can be used as a burp cloth or bib. We still use these!!

I can’t say enough great things about the Avent bottle Sterilizer. We used it for both kids and I truly think it’s the greatest for sterilizing all the baby things!

We LOVED Avent bottles for the kids. Both of them thrived on these anti-colic bottles.

I loved making my own baby food and the Beaba baby food maker is so easy to use and to clean. I loved it!

I love any bib you can easily wipe off that doesn’t stain so we were big fans of the Bella Tunno bibs with Charlotte.

Most Used Baby Items For Play:

We loved this baby walker for both kids learning how to walk.

This activity cube is amazing. Charlotte still plays with it daily and Liam loved it.

This train is THE BEST from about age 6 months on. Liam is 4 and still rides it around the house and Charlotte is starting to ride it too.

The Lovevery play gym is amazing. I wish they’d had it when Liam was a baby but we loved it with Charlotte.

If you are a mom I would love to know one of your most-used baby items!

While I don’t have a baby, I may need that sound machine for myself! haha! I always sleep with a fan on and it’s mostly just for the sound. It’s so soothing and puts me right to sleep.

You’ve clearly discovered the best of the best, and it takes a mom using them to really “get” it. Great suggestions!

  8. my youngest is 9 years old which is still so hard to believe. Both of my babies loved their swing, it was a papasan style swing that went in different directions and it was my hands down favorite thing for a baby. They both loved being in it from newborn until they were too big for it haha!

If we only had these when my kids were babies! The homedics sound machine would have been a big help. I think I sang lullabies for hours until my babies fell asleep.

It seems like forever since I had a baby since my “baby” is turning 6 this year. However I still remember that first year like it was yesterday! In no particular order here are the things I used the most.
Muslin Cloths (I just used any I was given or if I was in Tesco would just buy a cheap packet but the ones you suggested are the best!).
Avent Dummies (pacifiers) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-Soother-Translucent-COLOURS-DESIGNS/dp/B0057EEC3A/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1518168966&sr=8-4&keywords=avent+dummies Amy wouldnt take to any others.

Bouncy chair such as this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bright-Starts-Silly-Safari-Bouncer/dp/B07232QQMK/ref=sr_1_6?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1518169003&sr=1-6&keywords=bouncy+chair

An activity centre like this one. Amy had hip issues so found it difficult lying down from an early age. This helped her get her hips into a better position (and I was allowed to take her brace of 3 months earlier because we had worked so hard. However always speak to your Dr!) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hauck-Play-Around-Activity-Centre/dp/B000K7AQ4S/ref=sr_1_5?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1518169032&sr=1-5&keywords=activity+play+centre

    A jumperoo https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisher-Price-CHM91-Roaring-Rainforest-Jumperoo/dp/B019XSJTB0/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1518169108&sr=1-1&keywords=jumperoo

Im sure there were loads more but I definitely remember my life being made much better because of these things!!

This is such a great list! New moms tend to get drawn into the trap of thinking they need things that companies are always trying to sell to them, but they don’t.

My kids are older but I remember trying to swaddle like the nurses did. Now they have easier swaddles and babies love being on those. All cozy.
