Summer Prep Kit + Giveaway

I can’t believe we are basically in the summer months now. This weekend is Memorial Day weekend, which is the unofficial start to summer! We are currently at the lake, which has been AMAZING. We are renting a house from HomeAway and just really vegging out. I am spending a lot of time on the porch reading and enjoying yummy drinks and Andrew has been doing a lot of fishing! I also fished for the first time ever! What can I say, I’m a city girl. When we were packing for the lake I realized how many things I needed to take with me, a lot of which hadn’t really been used much since last summer aside from on our cruise. This is my summer prep kit of sorts and I wanted to share it with you!

Protecting Yourself: Andrew has been adamant about us wearing bug spray with the Zika Virus running around. So because of this Repel with DEET has become my buddy. I try to put it on every time I am outside, which now that it’s warmer is a lot more. I have used Neutrogena Sunscreen for as long as I can remember. It’s the sunscreen my dermatologist recommends, and even though it probably doesn’t make a difference I use a pretty high SPF. Don’t forget to put sunscreen on your feet, ears, and places like the back of your neck.

Clothes and Accessories: Summer is a great time to invest in some new shades. I love these Raybans from DITTO!  I also am obsessed with this bucket bag from J.Crew Factory. I love the bucket bag idea, but I did not want to splurge on an expensive one. This one is under $60 and super cute. Also from J.Crew Factory are these adorable sandals for summer. They are very trendy right now, and again, I did not want to break the bank on a trend so I snagged these in gold and in leopard print! Nothing says summer like a strappy sports bra to wear to the gym! I love the Energy Bra from Lululemon. It’s very comfortable and I love the straps. To stay hydrated I always have a water bottle or tumbler with me. I was given this S’well Bottle by a friend for my birthday and I really love it! It’s a fun design and I haven’t seen it around much! Plus, it keeps your water SUPER cold all day!

Yummy Snacks: Nothing says hot weather like ice cream am I right? We are huge ice cream eaters in my house all year round, not just in the summer months. However, in the summer months you want to also look cute in your bathing suits or shorts. So the dilemma becomes finding a way to have ice cream and still hit your goals. I really love the Weight Watchers® Ice Cream Bars. I purchased them at Walmart. What I like about Weight Watchers® is the point system. You get a certain amount of points based on different factors and you add your points up from all food you eat. These ice cream bars are not very many points and really give you such a satisfaction of cold, creamy, goodness you want in ice cream! I’m quite partial to the Dark Chocolate Mint Ice Cream Bars and the Peanut Butter Caramel Ice Cream Candy Bars. I can highly recommend these as the perfect summer guilt free treat! Don’t we all need that? Life is too short to deprive yourself friends!

  6. I love summertime, but sometimes I hate little things that come with it like the mosquitoes and other bugs and the sunburns!

This is such a great list of essentials. I’ve been eyeing a corkcicle (similar to Yeti’s but a better price point) for this summer. Or one of those gigantic floats!
