17 Things To Absolutely Add To Your Baby Registry

When I got pregnant I was SO excited to register. Seriously! I actually started my registry weeks before I announced my pregnancy because I couldn’t wait to look through all the precious baby things. But then, I had to make decisions! It’s not like when you get married, it’s so much harder. You want to make sure you have all the right things for your baby and EVERYONE has different opinions on what these things are. So after registering, having 3 showers, returning and exchanging countless items, and then having a baby home for a few months, I can tell you the 17 things to absolutely add to your baby registry. You won’t regret them!

17 things to absolutely add to your baby registry

17 Things To Absolutely Add To Your Baby Registry

This first item is a bit hard to find. If you register on Amazon or baby list you can add it but they don’t carry it at a lot of stores. In fact we bought ours on eBay after a good friend told me it was a must have. That’s the Keekaroo peanut changer. You guys. It’s pricey but think about it this way, you would register for a changing mat and several changing covers. This is ONE item. Plus it wipes down with baby wipes! Best thing ever!

Next is something that pretty much everyone told me to get and for the first 6 weeks it was the ONLY thing Liam would nap well in. The Rock N Play. Just get one. We actually have 2!

This is another splurge item to add. The DockATot is such an amazing investment! We have used it in almost every room of our house. I’ve even put Liam in it on the bathroom floor while I shower! We already have the next size up waiting!

My sister-in-law actually recommended these V-tech monitors to us. We have a camera in Liam’s room but it’s not a baby monitor camera so we needed monitors to be able to hear him. What we love about these are the different settings so that we can make to ONLY hear him cry and not any of his squeaks or sounds he would make that would wake me up all night. They are VERY price friendly!

I think pretty much everyone registers for WubbaNubs. We have about 11. It’s ridiculous. But we keep them in every room, car, diaper bag, you name it there is a WubbaNub in that spot. Liam is partial to the cow.

Forget ANY other burpy bib and get a bunch of Aden and Anais burpy bibs. They are SO great. They are thick, absorbent and SUPER cute! We have purchased MANY more!

There are a lot of fancy baby bath tubs but the only one you will ever need is the Primo Eurobath. It works until they are 2! Infant to 2! Most others only work for a short time. Plus this one is VERY price friendly!

We tried A LOT of swaddles. Once Liam realized that anything with velcro he could get out of it was game over. Enter Swaddle UP! Just do yourself a favor and register for these. They are great for babies who like to have their hands by their faces. Plus they are really thin!

Everyone will tell you, you need a sound machine. I highly suggest one with white noise. We turn it up super loud and Liam sleeps amazing. He doesn’t even hear us vacuum outside his room or the doorbell. Amazing! We love this machine.

One of my biggest issues was knowing what bottles to register for. Why are there a million? We registered for a few different ones and when we came home from the hospital we had to try tons of different bottle and nipple combos. We found in the long run Liam loved the Dr Browns bottles. We just change the nipples out as he gets older.

Tiny newborn clothes are so cute right? Yeah everyone will buy you those. DO NOT REGISTER FOR THEM! When Liam came home newborn clothes swallowed him but within 2 months he was in 3-6 month and some 6 month clothes. Register for 6 month and up clothes. Trust me! This is for sure one of the things to absolutely add to your baby registry! On that note register for side snap t-shirts in EVERY SINGLE SIZE! This is all Liam sleeps in. A side snap and a swaddle. They make diaper changes a breeze plus he gets hot super easy.

My love for hooded towels goes deep! Babies need to have their heads warm so after a bath they need the hood to get warm again! We have a TON of hooded towels. My favorite was a super sweet gift from Neiman Marcus. It’s a swankie blankie towel. These are a little pricey and you can for sure find much less expensive hooded towels, but these make great gifts.

There are a ton of great baby books, but our favorites by far are the ones by Sandra Boynton.

Liam really didn’t want much to do with his play mat till he hit about 7 weeks. Now it’s his favorite thing. Stomach, back, it doesn’t matter. He spends hours on it! Make sure to register for a good one!

A good stroller is a must. This is absolutely a personal preference. We have a few, which isn’t necessary but we use them for different things: everyday, jogging, travel, etc. So pick a good one and for sure one with a compatible car seat for easy snapping!

My absolute must have bibs are the Burts Bees bibs. I have no idea how I found them but trust me get a ton of them. They pull over babies head and are VERY soft and durable. Another one of those things to absolutely add to your baby registry!

Lastly, register for gift cards. To restaurants, grocery stores, STARBUCKS (you will need coffee), and baby stores. You will have no idea what your baby is going to like and dislike. Trust me. We went to Buy Buy Baby about 10 times to exchange things. All babies are different but gift cards will save you!

These 17 things to absolutely add to your baby registry are for sure not everything you will need but they are a great start!

Those Boynton books are seriously the best. My kids are older and still read them and I always add them on to baby shower gifts. The going to bed book is so cute!

  21. These are all great ideas to add to your baby registry. One thing I would definitely add is a swing. Our kids lived in the swing when they were babies.
