2017 Goals + 2016 Reflections

I can’t believe we are days away from a new year. 2016 was a crazy year for us but in the best ways. We got to travel a lot, we found out we were expecting, and so much more. At the end of 2016 I wrote a post about my goals for 2016. Today I want to reflect on those, as well as share my 2017 goals.

2017 Goals

In 2016 I wanted to…

  • Read 75 books. I didn’t quite get there but I got close.
  • Stop focusing on the number on the scale. I was pretty good about this until the last part of my pregnancy.
  • Have more dates with Andrew. I really think we did a lot better with dates this year and I hope we can keep it up after the babe gets here.
  • Write about things that scare me. I wrote more about our struggles with infertility this year and several really personal letters to myself.
  • Continue to blog full time. I did this and I am so proud of how much my blog and partnerships grew this year.
  • Branch out. I do feel like I branched out some but not enough.
  • Travel. We did get to travel to a lot of new places including Bahamas, St Thomas, St Marteen, Santa Barbara and Laguna Beach. We had to cancel 2 trips due to my pregnancy and Zika but I am glad we got to travel as much as we did.
  • Combine our home offices. BOOM! Check!
  • Cook more. I did cook a lot more this year. YAY!
  • More time with friends. I think I was really good about one-on-one time with friends this year and that’s what I really wanted to focus on.

2017 Goals

  • Read 50 books. With a new baby this already seems daunting.
  • Continue to blog full time. Again with a new baby I really hope I can grow my blog even more than I did this year.
  • Lose baby weight in a healthy way and keep up with it.
  • Focus on health more than a number and make sure we are all eating healthy.
  • Spend quality time with Andrew and really focus on our relationship. I know that having a baby changes things in marriages so we really want to keep up with dates and spending time together.
  • Go on at least 2 trips with Andrew and baby boy.
  • Get a few house projects done that we’ve been wanting to do.
  • Continue to be more financially aware of spending.

I would love to know what some of your 2017 Goals are!

  1. 50 books sounds like a great challenge! I’m inspired, but I probably have to start with reading 10 – that’s already a lot for me.

Hope you’re having a great Christmas!

How many books did you read in 2017? I had the plan of reading 1 book a month, but didn’t get there at all!
Good luck with your 2017 goals.

Yay on your 75 books! I challenged myself on GoodReads and I’m waaaayy below. Ah well. I did read pretty awesome books this year. +1 on traveling more. There is so much more to explore in the world! This year I think one of my major goals is to get back on track as far as working out is concerned. That got thrown out the window in 2016!!

  7. I still need to plan out goals…this year was so huge, I feel like I just need to sit down for a hot sec and REFLECT first! I definitely want to keep up the full time blogging myself though for sure, and definitely just keep growing and expanding and learning and loveloveloving it!

  10. I’m a really slow reader and haven’t been diligent about keeping up with it since having a baby. Well, besides reading books on how to get my baby to sleep! haha. I never thought I’d want an e-reader but having one during all those late night feeding sessions would have been helpful.

2017 will be a great year even if your goals adjust with baby.

Well I had a goal of 150 books in 2016–I came very close-but being in the hospital 3 times last year did not help. 2017–I’ll try for 150 books again. I’ll attempt to write more on my blog (other then book reviews) and I am going to try my darndest to stay out of the hospital!

  13. I didn’t even read 10 books this year I don’t think! I have such a hard time reading so many blogs and online content, that I don’t even think about reading a book! Good luck with the 2017 goals and new baby!

  16. Wow, you read close to 75 books?!? I’m so impressed.

I don’t have too many goals for 2017. More just a vision. I want 2017 to be the year of simplicity. Where I take things on one thing at a time. Less multi-tasking. More intention.

  20. Wow, I’m blown away by your book-reading goals and accomplishments! I just don’t seem to find the time between full-time work, blogging, 2 kids, etc. so I’m really impressed. I will add, if you don’t already do so, that having the Kindle app on your phone is great with a new baby and might help you meet this year’s goal! (This would definitely be a “do as I say” not “do as I do” advice!) 😉

I’m looking forward to looking around more on your blog and good luck with your goals! I’m definitely working toward growing my blog this year, too.

  25. You did a great job with your goals in 2016! That’s awesome! Good luck with your goals in 2017. Reading 50 books can seem daunting sometimes–and I don’t even have a newborn, just a couple of jobs/my own creative pursuits. 🙂

I love these goals! I totally get you about the reading. I love doing it but never have the time. I’ve tried listening to more audio books and I love it. It’s the best way I can get some “reading” in! Hope you have a great rest of 2016! See you in 2017!
