6 Steps To A Self-Care Morning

Ah self-care. It’s all the rage and for good reason. We SHOULD focus on taking care of ourselves. After all, how can we take care of others if we don’t take care of ourselves? So I am sharing 6 step to a self-care morning with you guys because starting your day taking care of yourself will ensure that you can take care of everyone else.

6 Steps To A Self-Care Morning

Step 1: Get dressed. It doesn’t need to be full hair and makeup, but brushing your teeth, washing your face, putting clothes on, and not laying in your PJs all day is so helpful to your mental state. I feel more depressed when I’m in PJs all day long. So even if I take a shower and put on joggers and a t-shirt I feel better.

Step 2: Meditate. This is new for me this year. I really made it a huge goal of mine this year to start meditating. Once I started, I noticed a difference in the days I did and the days I did not. I felt more calm and less anxious, so I think it’s a great thing to add to a self-care centered morning.

Step 3: Eat A Good Breakfast. One thing you need to do when you take care of yourself is eat well. You’ve heard “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” your entire life, right? I am a breakfast lover so this is NOT something that’s hard for me mostly because I don’t like to be “hangry”. Just make sure you eat a great breakfast. It starts your day on the right track. I personally LOVE oatmeal and I usually enjoy it with my coffee at the kitchen island while I go through emails and work on the blog. Lately I have been enjoying my coffee with Left Field Farms Non-GMO Creamer! I was on the hunt for a creamer we could use and keep at the house (I have mom friends over for coffee a lot) and this one fit the bill!  It’s Non GMO-Project Verified, from cows not treated with rBST,  no artificial flavors, and made with real cream and real sugar! So you know you aren’t getting anything fake. Left Field Farms Creamer would also be awesome in smoothies! I know we like to mix up the liquid/dairy we put in our smoothies and this is great for that! For sure visit your local Walmart and try Left Field Farms Creamer for yourself. I do NOT think you will be disappointed!

Step 4: Exercise. If you are someone who loves to work out in the morning this is for you! I LOVE early morning workouts. Not only does it cross that item off your list first thing, but I swear it puts you in a good mood all day!

Step 5: Do Something For You. This could be reading a few chapters of a book, going to get a haircut, whatever. Do you!

Step 6: Be Grateful: Just start the day grateful. This gets your mind right, your heart right, and that’s the best kind of self-care there is!

What would you add to this list for a self-care morning?

This is a great list and pretty much sums up my morning routine, although I do need to start meditating regularly! I also try to remember to have a couple glasses of water in the morning to rehydrate, it’s so easy to forget but it makes a big difference.

  7. These are some excellent ideas. I especially love #5 and #6. I saw the brand Left Field online the other day. I haven’t seen it in stores yet but I will be looking in my next grocery trip.

I just had a conversation with my sister about self-care. My daughter and I exercise 3 mornings out of the week and I told my sister that just doing that really clears my head and makes me feel great the rest of the day. Our mother is aging and self-care is a must for me with helping with mom and my 15 grandchildren (not all at once) I def need some me time.

  16. I agree with you to just start the day grateful. Having a positive mind is important and then next thing for me is coffee. I need caffeine in my vein

  17. I’m trying NOT to check my phone as soon as I wake up. The mornings I don’t I tend to be happier because I haven’t had the chance to “see the bad” in the world yet. I’m also trying to get into the habit of working out in the morning vs evening. I feel so good having that accomplished before the day starts 🙂

Self care time is tough for me with having three boys and working on my blog and writing . However, it makes such a giant difference in how I feel too. Showering is a big one for me to get done daily, I try, even though I miss days. Plus, I try to exercise several days a week, that is huge for me too. Thanks for the post! I’ll have to look for the creamer:)

I like the idea of meditating to start the day. It’s not something I ever do, but I can see how it would help me feel more calm and start off on a positive note. Unfortunately for me right now my 1 year old is my alarm clock every morning at 5am so I don’t get a moment’s peace at the start of my day!
