Best Ways To Share Between Social Media Platforms

Posting to social media can seem like work at times. When you sit down to plan out your blog posts and the corresponding social media it can feel daunting to know what to share, when to share, and where to share it. The best ways to share between social media platforms can really help in ways you may have not thought of.

Best-Ways-To-Share-Between-Social-Media-Platforms

Instagram is something I have become very intentional with. I no longer just post random pictures or selfies or things that are not carefully edited. Oh come on we all carefully edit Instagram….don’t fool yourself! I digress. When I post a picture to Instagram I share it two places: Twitter and My BLOG FACEBOOK PAGE, NOT my personal Facebook page. This is VERY important. Always share your Instagram photos to your blog Facebook page. Why you ask? Let me tell you. I used to only share my Instagram posts to my Twitter account and every now and then my personal Facebook page. One day I decided to connect my Instagram to my blog Facebook page and noticed something. The times I posted Instagram pictures on my blog Facebook page I saw a huge jump in interaction from my blog Facebook followers to my Instagram followers. I also saw a ton of interaction on my blog Facebook page. We all know that Facebook can be tough with how and why things from your page are shared on news feeds. We all see the drop for no reason in our Facebook page interaction. I am here to tell you that while this doesn’t completely fix that problem, it does help.

This is an Instagram post I posted on January 7th at 6:18 PM. This is not the usual time I post Instagram photos, but when I posted it I immediately saw a ton of interaction onto my Facebook page. This is without any boosts, just purely organic.

Facebook Engagement

59 Likes, and 8 comments total on a Facebook page post not boosted. The reach was twice what it was the day before. In turn, the next several posts I posted directly onto my Facebook blog page had much more engagement and reach. This is because once people were interacting on my page, my posts starting showing up more in their news feeds.

The point of all of this is that by me posting my Instagram photos onto my blog Facebook page, my blog Facebook page reach grew and in turn the other posts I posted starting getting more engagement.

Some other things about sharing across social media to note:

Do NOT have your Pinterest linked to Facebook or Twitter. Otherwise get ready to lose a bunch of followers. No one wants to be notified every single time you pin something.

However, sharing some of your Twitter posts to your blog Facebook can be helpful. Be mindful though and do not share every single thought you have on both.

Use your social media for what it was intended for: Twitter is for the random thoughts and updates. Facebook is for sharing posts and photos and fun articles. Instagram is for pretty pictures (not more than two a day) and Pinterest is for well pinning!

Remember, this is not gospel these are just my thoughts on the subject and what has worked for me for the past several years.

What is your favorite form of Social Media?

  18. SUCH a good point with Facebook page posts and Instagram being linked together. Especially since Facebook Page algorithm’s go off of engagement levels, posting gorgeous photos that get great engagement is such a bonus!

  19. For sure! I don’t have my IG linked to my blog FB but I do schedule out the photos on a later date. I should try it both ways and see which works better. When it comes down to it, it’s about the varying from a link to your blog. At work (I do social media marketing), we call these “Engagements” vs “Content (i.e. links to our sites). You want a good balance of Engagements to Content pieces.

This is interesting to read because I’m not really sure what to do with my facebook page and never really thought about adding my Instagram photo to it. I was always afraid to alienate the few followers I had on Facebook by cross-posting, but I might try this suggestion! Thank you!

Thanks for sharing this info! I’m such a putz when it comes to social media. My biggest flaw when it comes to blogging/self-promotion is consistency. For instance, I go through phases where I use my blog’s FB page to promote frequently, and then there are periods where I hardly use it at all.

I just hate being tied up in social media in general. I resist it for sure. Much to my own detriment.

That is a really interesting take on Instagram/Facebook! I’ve always kept my Instagram feed SPECIFICALLY to Instagram because I want people to HAVE to follow me there in order to see what I’m posting. I have posted pictures directly to my FB page wall and notice the same trend that you did: a huge boost in organic reach, likes and comments and then the next posts were higher as well! I think FB really likes pictures!
