Happy 2016 friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe New Years! I did a post a few weeks ago with my 2016 goals, but after thinking about it more I thought that a better way to keep myself accountable for all my goals and to have more specific goals throughout the year was to do monthly goals. So here we are with January Goals, and hopefully these are things I can really focus on in the next month.
- Read 8 books. This seems very doable at 2 books a week. I would really like to read about 8-10 books a month throughout the year and really surpass my goal, but I know some months will be busier this year than others.
- Go to the gym 6 days a week. This includes any workout classes, or general days doing cardio and free weights. I would like to get back into swimming since my gym has a heated pool. I have been really good about going to the gym or working out rather 6 days a week since March of this year but hopefully I can be even better about it.
- Have 2 date nights a month with Andrew OUT of the house. We have a lot of date nights at home where we cook dinner, watch movies, play board games, etc, but I hope we can be better this year about getting out of the house and trying new things or even just going out for yogurt or to a coffee shop and spending time together.
- Focus on needs instead of wants more. This was a big year for me on focusing on my needs rather than wants. It’s really easy to say that I need that mascara or those yoga pants but in all honestly 90% of the time it’s probably a want more than a need.
- Double my blog income from last January. I do not go into details about what I make through blogging and truthfully I probably never will. I think it’s no ones business what my income is other than Andrew and myself. When I look at my blogging income over the past year, I really hope that I will be able to double my monthly income year-over-year.
- Write one blog post about a topic I do not usually discuss. I will leave it at that.
- Try 3 new meals that could be added to our weekly meal rotation. We have several meals we rotate throughout the month and a few things we always do the same nights of the week. For instance, we always make homemade pizza on Fridays. I really hope this month we can try some new meals out and that at least 1 or 2 of them can be ones we add in.
I don’t want to do much more than that as far as January goals are concerned because I really want to be able to focus on these items. I hope having my January goals written out helps keep me accountable.
What are some of your January Goals?

Great goals! I’m trying to read more too this year…good luck!
You read 2 books a week?!?!?! HOLY COW, teach me your ways!!! How do you make time?? I have such trouble sitting down and forcing myself to completely unplug to focus on reading. Oh, how I wish I could. How do you eliminate distractions to focus on just that?
Coming Up Roses
I have this very same problem. How do you read so many books in a week. I read 1 chapter in 1 week of 1 book!
I find that writing out my goals every month helps me achieve my bigger/more long time goals. I used to give myself monthly reading goals, but I would always fall short, so this month I’m just giving myself three books to finish reading! I hope that will help me!
I too want to double my page views with blogging and continue to grow my income.
I also want to treat my body well (like it deserves to be treated) and read more.
Great goals Neely! I am trying to read more too this year and getting back into blogging with two littles under two will be hard but its is definitely a goal of mine:)
Great goals for the month! I need to up how much I read each month too. I’d love to average two books a week. Sometimes I do, but not all the time. I’d really like to work on carving out more time for it though. 🙂
Needs instead of wants is a big one on my list this year, which is the main reason I NEED to stay away from Target!
Those are great goals! I, too, am looking to add new meals into my rotation, so I hope you’ll share what you’re trying! 🙂 I also am looking into increasing my blog revenue… So I hope we all figure out how to do that as well! 🙂
I love that everyone is posting their goals. I love reading them and have many of the same. Good luck to you!
Great goals! I wish you the best of luck completing them 🙂
Great goals! I especially like #6- that’s a good one for all bloggers to do!
These are great, thank you for sharing! I know that goals are super personal, but it helps me make my own by seeing how others plan their goals for the year.
I guess my goal for January is to use my treadmill. Which seems lame, but it’s been in my office for three months and I have yet to use it. I know it’ll make me feel better to be active again but ugh… the couch is so comfy.
Oh I love these!!! I love goals for the new year! ♥ And your blog is adorable!!!
Good reasonable goals! I hope you reach your book goal! I’ve just started gathering books to read for this year in general!
Wonderful goals! I especially like the focus on what you need instead of want goal. That is something I also should focus on!
I wish you well on completing your January Goals. Much continued success!!!
These are some great goals. Like you said it’s no ones business about your income. I’m doing the same this year. Keeping track of what I get paid from ads, campaigns and brands I work with.
Those are some great goals for January! My biggest goal for January was to launch my new website DailyAspire.com which I was able to check off on it’s scheduled launch date of the 1st! That has been such a long time coming and it’s had such a good response, that I couldn’t be happier, but now I REALLY want to keep it growing while also growing my personal blog at the same time!
Good luck on your goals this month!
You go girl for reading two books a week and going to the gym 6x a week.
I can’t even imagine haha.
xoxo, Jenny
#6 sounds intriguing 🙂 I think writing out goals does help with accountability to avoid a case of “out of sight, out of mind.”
Here’s my 2016 goals broken up into each quarter! http://www.victapolis.com/2016/01/2016-goals-year-january.html
These are such great goals! I love reading these type of posts because they are such an inspiration and give me ideas of things I want to try. Adding new meals into our family’s rotations would definitely be appreciated by hubby. Do you already have a list of books you plan to read or will just pick books as they jump out at you each week?
2 books per week?! I’m impressed and jealous. I love to read, but always seem to get busy. I’m aiming to make time for two books a month this year – which I think is a very attainable goal for me.
Good luck on all of your goals.
That’s a lot of goals but it sounds as if you’re already making headway. I need to get my boyfriend on board with date nights out of the house; I feel like we’re always in the house but that’s mostly because we’re trying to save money.

Joua To The Rescue
Two of my January goals are to read a non-fiction book and to cook one new meal each week. Here goes nothing!
I love your goals for January! I love reading income reports, but I do think it is a very personal thing too and I don’t think I would ever share mine. One of my goals is to go to the gym 10 times to get into the habit again and I love your goal- very inspiring! I am hosting a goal link up here and this would be a great post to add if you are interested! 🙂
