Let’s Have A Coffee Date

I’ve written a post like this before and like I said then, I got the idea from my bloggy friend, Lisa and I really love the idea. Plus, if you aren’t following Lisa she is one of my favorite bloggers and has the cutest kiddos!  So let’s have a coffee date shall we?

If-we-were-on-a-coffee-date-o

If we were on a coffee date I would offer to buy your coffee because that’s what friends do! I would tell you that I did not have coffee/caffeine for over 5 weeks because baby boy on the way was not a fan.

I would roll my eyes at the two people arguing about the upcoming election and ask you if you were as tired of hearing about it as I am? I would tell you that I have unfollowed so many people on Facebook lately because they are just being mean on all sides.

I would tell you that I don’t feel ready to be a mother even though this is something we have tried and prayed for, for nearly two years.

I would tell you to pre-order Colleen Hoover’s new book because it’s one of the best books I’ve read all year. I would also ask what you’ve read lately.

I would ask you if you are excited for fall and football season? I sure am because that means cooler temps, and weekends spent watching football.

I would ask if you’re watching Bachelor in Paradise and let you know that it’s both Andrew and my guilty pleasure.

I would admit that I have a really hard time with changes in my body. I feel very unsexy at times and even though I am immensely grateful for this gift of life, I find myself being sad about the body changes because I have no control over them. But I would tell you that I do not regret the brownies or milkshakes for a single second.

I would ask you how your parents are doing? Do you worry about them? Do you dread them getting older? I do. I worry and dread all the time. I am scared of the future all the time.

So I guess if we had a coffee date those are some of the things we could talk about. What would you want to talk about? What would you tell me?

Let’s have a coffee date.

You watch BIP?! YAY! Not enough people in my life do and so I have no one to discuss it with, which is tragedy. It already looks like it’s going to be a GREAT season. How are you surviving without your coffee?!

    Thanks for the shoutout 🙂

  2. This is so nice! I’m not even in the states and I am totally over hearing about the elections! I’d tell you not to worry about you’re parenting fears because if we are all honest, we’ve all had them!

If we were on a coffee date I would order an iced coffee flavored, light & sweet. I would tell you to enjoy all those brownies because you deserve them girl! You are fostering new life inside of you! I’d also recommend the podcast Magic Lessons by Elizabeth Gilbert if you’re a creative person/enjoy her as an author. And I’d tell you that I love your blog and look forward to your personal post that you made a goal to write this month!

    Have a wonderful day 🙂

  6. I would order a mocha frappuccino and tell you that I started drinking coffee regularly when I started getting up with my husband at 6:30 am about five weeks ago. I would tell you I am not a morning person. It is no fun, but I get so much more done. I’d tell you that I’m reading The Guardian by Dee Henderson. I love her first two series, but some of the newer stuff is too dense for my taste. I’d tell you that even though I’m not (and haven’t been, pregnant I’m really sympathizing with the whole body changes and feeling unsexy. I’ve gained about 12 pounds in the last two years. I can really tell in how my clothes fit and how I feel about myself. I was really sick three years ago, so I was under my regular weight. I hated being sick, but I liked how thin I was. I needed to put back on about 5 of those pounds to be my normal healthy self, but that leaves me with 7 extra ones that I am to busy to be able to shed right now. I can’t even find time for my 30-minute walk in the evening. I’m in a period of craziness that’s due to last the entire month of August and it’s already feeling overwhelming. They’re all good things, so then I feel guilty about feeling stressed and overwhelmed. It’s a bad cycle that I wish I knew how to break out of. And I want to find time to lose those lbs.

Coffee dates are such a wonderful way to catch up with our friends. It doesn’t matter what we chat about – to shut the world out and connect is a gift in this busy day and age. Like you, I always offer to buy the coffee because that’s what friends do. Better yet I invite then to sit on the front porch and I make the cappuccino. To bad we don’t live in the same city or I would make you a decaf :).

I feel like we would be stellar friends. I connect with so much of your thoughts and emotions, especially fear of being a new mom and body changes and the unknown in the future. I do my best to keep going and enjoy each day but it’s always nagging me in the back of my head. Adulting is hard. I’m sure that, once baby boy is in your arms, fear will be replaced with boundless love and excitement. You will do amazing. <3

This is great, a virtual coffee date with you. Enjoyed reading this, I get flustered with the world and how people talk. It seems many are so focused on negative, their own thoughts and/or just self-absorbed lol I am blessed to know many who are not any of those things, but have watched society turn that way slowly as a whole unit.

  17. I love these posts so much. I have un-followed so many people on FB lately because of the political rants, too. It makes me sad to see people I thought I knew so well being so hateful. I feel like being a mother is something we’re never really prepared for but i’ve been doing this for 13 years. I can tell you it is worth it all. I definitely need to catch up on The Bachelor in Paradise.

I would tell you that I love the blogging world so much, and I am so glad I am a part of it.
I would tell you that I am so ready for the day that I work from home, and that I really hope that happens within the next two years.
I would tell you that you are beautiful and to try not to worry about the body changes.

  21. seriously, I am also tired of this political debate; who is going to be president, who should become the next president, who deserve, and blah blah blah. Debate is a different thing but people are fighting over such things which is really sad. I must say that the coffee with you is going to be the best one because you are so cool and friendly.

  24. WOW what an ingenious post!
When you offered to buy my coffee I would run ahead and hand my card first! I would smile at you over my shoulder and tell you this is gonna be a great friendship 🙂 My treat since its been 5 months 😉
When you role your eyes at the political debate I would exclaim a loud YES!! to the room enough to get a few awkward glances to wich I would just smile at.
I would encourage you saying “what does ready really mean?” I am sure our mothers didn’t feel ready.. and I think we are ok 🙂
I would tell you I just returned home from a week in Dallas a week of discovering myself and learning more about how to achieve my dreams in Mary Kay and opening a specialty coffee shop. I would tell you I am excited but a little scared and I have no clue where funding is going to come from or how long it will take.
I would tell you about y most recent move that I am already happier here but still nervous about the unknowen. And at the end I would ask when we could get together again 🙂 I enjoyed this!

  31. This year was my first time (since Trista and Ryan’s season- which I don’t think even really counts) watching The Bachelorette. I LOVED it so I’m trying Bachelor in Paradise, too! So far, so entertaining- but I have to say, I’m glad Chad is gone. It’s all about him when he’s around and I want to get to know the other characters. Also- do you watch UnReal. If not, you MUST.
I’ve been looking forward to Colleen Hoover’s new book so I’m happy you liked it so much! Since we have such similar taste, I’m sure I will love it too!
My parents are doing well- but I worry about them all the time, too! I hate worrying (esp when it’s “for no reason”) and I’m trying to work on that. Sometimes I have a hard time being in the moment because I’m too worried about what could happen in the future.
    Have a great weekend <3

Love this post! I always look forward to fall too, mostly for the weather and fashion 🙂 I think I will be watching Bachelor in Paradise, though it is definitely a guilty pleasure!I too worry about my parents, even though they are both doing well. Sometimes it is really hard to picture the future and the possibility that I may have to be without them someday. You are definitely not alone in that <3

  37. I agree – I’m tired of the politics. I have also removed people. This election has brought out the nasty in people. As far as not feeling ready for motherhood – my boys are both grown and I still don’t feel ready sometimes. Kids don’t come with manuals. Just remember to allow yourself to walk away when things get heated. Take a coffee break once in a while. With a little work, your body will return. Just breathe and remember – You got this!
