Letters That CARE

In the current state of our world it is very easy to get caught up on what’s going on that you see on the news. It is also easy to forget that you aren’t seeing everything and that other terrible things are happening. It is also easy to do nothing because we have it so good here in the US. But you can take a few minutes out of your day to write a letter of hope to a Syrian refugee child. You can do this through the CARE website. They are truly letters that CARE.

Why is this something YOU should do? Well when you are going through tough times, how many times has someone reaching out and letting you know they are thinking about you helped? Yes, a letter is a small token, but it can make all the difference to a child in Syria.

You can also donate money or care packages. But anyone can write a letter. The CARE letter writing portal makes it so easy. It will only take a few minutes and I promise it will make such an impact.

Watch this video to learn more:

This story about Gunter and the boy he wrote a letter to Zaher really touched my heart.

“I am 78 years old and live in the United States,” his letter to Zaher began. “Seventy years ago, when I was 8 years old like you, I was also a refugee. I‘m writing to share my story with you to let you know that, no matter how bad things may seem, there are good people in this world who can make everything better.”

I hope you take a few minutes out of your Monday and go to the website, read some of the stories and write your own letter.

This is what I wrote:

“I know it can be hard in times like this to think of a time when you won’t be hurting, but I can assure you it will get better. Think of your bright future and all you have to look forward to. Know that so many of us around the world are praying for you and thinking of you. -Neely”

So how will you show your letters that CARE?

  16. I am crying so hard. This is such a beautiful gesture. I work at a marketing firm and one of our clients was going to be on the news today so we were sitting there working and waiting for the client to come on. I looked up and caught the end of something about another attack on innocent lives. And it broke my heart how much hate is in the world. I’m glad things like this are also happening.

This really is a very nice idea that CARE came up with. At least now people who can not donate money can let those kids know that there are people who actually care.
