11 Amazing Holiday Date Ideas

  • Take a carriage ride: We did this last year. We took a carriage ride to look at lights which was on my bucket list. It was super fun but SO COLD! If you city offers this I highly suggest it! Good reason to cuddle up!
  • Go Ice Skating: I love ice skating and while I can’t do it this year because I am pregnant, I can’t wait to go next year.
  • Get some cocoa and walk around looking at lights: Usually we get cocoa from 7-Eleven (my favorite in the world) and go drive around and look at lights. BUT if you live somewhere where you can walk and look at lights that would be so fun.
  • Have an at home picnic by the fireplace: Nothing says romance like a picnic and making a fire and having an at home picnic is the perfect date for this time of year.
  • Watch holiday movies and bake cookies: Who doesn’t love holiday movies? Bake some cookies for your honey and watch some movies. Bonus if you each pick one.
  • Go see a special holiday program in your town: Holiday orchestra, the nutcracker, those are the best this time of year.
  • Go to a tree lighting: There are a ton of them in Dallas, but every year we go to Klyde Warren Park downtown and see their tree lighting. It was one of our very first dates together so it holds a special place for us.
  • Go Christmas shopping together: Not everyone would love this, but if you aren’t in a rush it would be fun to go to the mall and walk around and shop in the stores together.
  • Go to a movie theater and see a holiday throwback movie: We have a place in Dallas called Alamo Drafthouse and every year they show a ton of holiday movies. For the last three years we have gone to see Home Alone because they do all you can eat cheese pizza. It’s so much fun!
  • Have a fancy dinner date: While this isn’t necessarily a holiday date per-say it is a fun thing to do this time of year. Get gussied up and fancy and go to a nice restaurant. If they have holiday decor up it just makes it more fun.
  • Go out for New Years Eve: We are NOT huge NYE people but if you are, it’s a fun night to have a date night!

What is an amazing holiday date idea you have?

I love making hot cocoa so my husband and I can drive around and look at the lights. We have a local park that really does a great job of setting up Christmas lights. We also like visiting the mall, not to shop but to see the displays.

  3. Thanks for the Holiday specific ideas. I don’t think I can stand another dinner/movie/Christmas shopping date. Ice Skating is in our immediate future.

This is such a great list, I wish we could ice skating but we don’t have that option in Florida. I love the movie night and tree lighting ceremony. Definitely something we can do down here as well. Thanks so much for sharing!

These are all great ideas!! My sweetie and I are planning on doing a carriage ride through a huge display of lights soon. It’s a little pricey but I’ve heard great reviews of this place. I also like the picnic by the fireplace idea. Definitely gonna try that one too ❤

I love these ideas. We have “carriage ride” and “ice skating” on our list to do this winter. It won’t be a true date because we’ll probably take our kids, but it will still be fun! When our kids are older and can do things with friends I have every intention of doing all these things with my husband.

I love this time of the year too 🙂 And these are all so wonderful ideas (except the ice skating as I don’t know how to, might not be very romantic with me falling on my butt all night haha). We have a Christmas night market in the city now which we plan to go to very soon. It’s very date night-ish! And how lovely would it be if it snowed a little??

  42. We love going Christmas shopping together. Our problem, though, is that we tend to shop for ourselves rather than everyone else on our Christmas list haha we just love shopping. I was also hoping to find neighborhoods here that are decorated for the holidays and it seems like NO ONE in San Diego gets into the Christmas spirit. It’s almost depressing lol but I’m still determined!
