I can’t believe it’s already time for another month of my monthly wellness series! This month I want to focus on goal setting. I have posted monthly goals on this blog for about 4 years now. I love doing it because it keeps me accountable and as I have heard from so many people, it motivates others to set goals too.
Monthly Wellness Series Month Five: Goal Setting
Why I think it’s important:
I think goals are important to have and have written out so that you can frequently look at them to see if you are making progress. I also think it’s important to have realistic and attainable goals. I think setting goals gives you purpose for the month/year etc and also helps you achieve longer term goals. To me, goals really give me things to strive towards and make me feel a sense of accomplishment on my own. Having something for yourself is so important!
What I do:
I think about the things I want to accomplish long term. I always set yearly goals first. Then I look at how those yearly goals are doing and if there is anything I can do in a given month to work towards those yearly goals. I also think of short term things I want to accomplish when it comes to work, family, marriage, personal, fitness etc. From there I try to nail down 8-10 goals for each month and cover all of those categories so that I am constantly working on those areas.
This months challenge:
This month’s challenge is very simple. I challenge you to make a list of goals either for the rest of the year or just next month! Make them attainable but still challenging for you.

I agree! Goal setting is so important! I teach my students to set SMART goals. Setting and revisiting goals is key to reaching those goals. My goals right now are about self care and wellness.
I make monthly and weekly goals. I never go a year in advance because I feel like it’s too intimidating.
Goal setting is essential. I do it daily, monthly, quarterly like clockwork. The best thing you can do is get your team, your family, your partner or roommate involved in the goal setting. Create some accountability and really reach personal development.
Ai agree with goal setting also- it serves as a reminder and motivator to get things done. I am also the type who makes daily lists of small goals. I want to make sure I accomplish even the little things.
I love making lists of both my short term and long term goals. I always find it helps organise things. I keep a notepad open on the desktop of my chrome book full of bullet points about things I need to do and the priority.
I have a lot of goals in life, and I agree with you that we need to write them down to track the progress of our goals. One of my goal this month is to spend more time with my family, to feel them that I love them and I care for them.
I have a running list of weekly and monthly goals. I’ve found that when I constantly have goals in place, I accomplish so much more.
Goal setting is such a simple, yet effective piece of advice and making those goals and achieving them feels so good!
This is definitely something I need to work on. I rarely set goals outside of the current week – and they’re usually only for my blog. You’re inspiring me for sure!
Goal setting can be so powerful and help us get to amazing places! I love how you put it – that it’s important that they are realistic and attainable. It makes a world of difference.
It’s really important to set goals and also to be more realistic with the things you want to achieve. Always plan ahead. Put them in a sheet of paper or sticky notes and make it happen!
I have to agree that goal setting is very important. Having it all written down keeps you motivated whether it is short or long term.
That sounds like a wonderful challenge to try out. I’ve been doing monthly/weekly/daily goals for quite a while now and it helped things be kept in order.
I can’t exactly call myself a goal-setter. I like to see myself as someone who needs to get things done because I committed myself too. For this month, it’s to read more books and publications!
Goal setting is so important! I haven’t been doing a lot of the required work for staying healthy lately. I definitely need to adjust my eating habits, make time for exercise and prioritize self care more.
