The Importance Of Self Care

This post is written by me, in partnership with RoC skincare for Socialstars #WomenWhoRoC

I have had a few posts this year so far about self care. I talked here about 10 things you should be doing for yourself everyday and here about my goals for the year. Today I am talking about the importance of self care  and the benefits that come from self care.

The-Importance-Of-Self-Care

Staying Healthy: This doesn’t just mean eating well, this also means exercising and regularly visiting doctors. It is important to see the eye doctor, dermatologist, gynecologist (assuming you are female), dentist, and your internist regularly. Making sure you are getting yearly skin checks to catch any kind of melanoma before it becomes problematic is beyond important. I spent years avoiding the eye doctor and I am paying for it dearly now. It is so important that your health is a top priority in your life.

Preparing your skin for the future: I recently discussed my updated skin care routine, but in the past couple of weeks I have added one more step! The RoC® MULTI CORREXION® 5 in 1 Chest, Neck and Face Cream. Perfect addition to your facial care routine. Specially crafted formula with Hexinol and SPF 30 that moisturize the chest and neck area. Hydrates thirsty, dry skin while helping to restore elasticity and firmness. Having a great skin care routine will keep your skin looking fresh and young for a long time. Wrinkles, blemishes and age spots are not something anyone wants to deal with.

Relieving Anxiety and Stress: Taking care of yourself by taking time for your skin, thinking about your health future, exercising and eating right all contributes to less stress. When you are taking care of your body on the inside and outside your brain responds well. No one likes dealing with stress and anxiety but they are both huge parts of life. I have dealt with anxiety issues for most of my life and I can tell you the times I am taking care of myself and focusing on self care my anxiety is much lower.

Self care is something a lot of us do not think about regularly. We are too busy being wives, moms, friends, daughters, co workers, etc. But you have to put yourself first sometimes and make sure you are taking care of you. No one else is going to make sure of that.

What do you consider the most important part of self care?

I have been saying for years I was going to find a good family doctor and have yet to. It is one of my goals this year to regularly go to check ups and not just when I am feeling sick and what not.

What a great post. Self-care IS so important though often overlooked. As a part-time teacher, part-time writer, blogger, and full-time mommy, finding opportunities for self-care is challenging, but like you, I have skincare routines in the morning and night that I always make time for. I have the same mentality about skincare – to take preventative care. I’ll have to check out that product!

  3. To me, the most important part of self-care is the spiritual and emotional side. I think if you are spiritually and emotionally healthy and cared-for, you will want to take care of your outward appearance and health more than if you are spiritually and emotionally drained and over-worked.

For me, “soul care” is essential. It’s a time when I go deeper into myself daily to listen to my inner voice and those below-surface needs. That might happen through yoga, reading, or even sitting quietly with a good book. Introspection! Thanks for sharing your own thoughts on self-care. Great ideas!

  6. Self care is SO SO SO SO important! I’m reminding myself everyday that I need to take a few moments here or there for self care. I’m making my doctors appointments (it’s been way too long), fitting in my workouts, adding in more yoga (it’s good for mind AND body), taking time to journal and remembering to stay tuned into my breath when life and my anxiety seems to get the better of me.

I think one important step toward self-care is getting the proper amount of sleep. You have no idea how much being tired affects other aspects of your life. No matter what, I try my hardest to be in bed at 10 p.m. (sometimes even earlier) so that I can get a full 8 hours. Plus, I get really cranky when I’m tired 😉

I have been doing a skin care routine for about four years now, but have always wanted to try ROC products but never have! I definitely want to try this product specifically, it seems it wouldn’t be to harsh for my pale skin.

Love this list! For me, growing in my relationship with God helps me the most. But after that, I love going to a coffee shop or taking a walk to help me feel motivated and all around better!

I need to look into this skin cream you referenced. Skin care is super important. I wish I was more into skincare in my twenties. My skin isn’t horrible now, but I know if I had taken better care of it earlier, I wouldn’t have some of the problems or dark spots I have now.

  12. I try to take care of skin but sometimes it takes too much time and I know I will regret it in the long run. I won’t be young forever. I need to make that and flossing more of a priority.

you are so right, self care is so extremely important and most times it gets forgotten and never to be touched upon again until everything is going downhill: skin is dry, stress is over the roof, weight is increasing. I love taking moments of self care during the week just to stay on track! Awesome post! Thanks for sharing!

Great post! I love all the attention that self-care is getting lately. It seems like it has been on the backburner for so long and that is so unhealthy! Thanks for sharing your routine 🙂

  15. It really is important to make time to care for ourselves, but all too often we skip it to take care of others. Skincare is part of my morning and evening routine!

I would like to try out the neck cream! It looks like a good product. Where can I purchase it? Self Care is very important. I try not to miss any important doctor visits. Staying healthy is important to me as well as relaxing. I’m a go go goer and find it hard to take a step back and take care of myself for once!
