9 Ways To Feel Happier

I think people underestimate happiness sometimes. We take it for granted. Some days we just can’t get there. Some days we get down on ourselves and our circumstances about the most minute things. I want to share 9 ways to feel happier for those days you can’t seem to get there. Maybe it’s a little thing you can do for yourself or for someone else.

9 ways to feel happier

9 Ways To Feel Happier

Have a Routine: I do not do well without a routine. Whenever I feel myself getting down or feeling meh I realize it’s because my routine is off. Either I’ve been sick, or we’ve been traveling, etc. Routine always makes me happy. Even when we travel I try to stick to as much of one as I can.

Volunteer: You know what will make you happier real fast? Doing for others who have less than you. Volunteering is such a great thing anyone can do!

Help Someone: Not just someone in need but help another mom, a friend, your parents, anyone. Help someone move, or organize, or watch their kids if they need a break. Open the door for someone carrying a ton of groceries, help that older lady load things into her car.

Spend Time with Kiddos: Kids are amazing. Before I had Liam, spending time with friends kids always put me in the best mood!

Get Outside: You know what we all need? Fresh air. It can do wonders for your mood! Head outside with a book, go for a walk around the block. It will improve your mood and make you happier real fast!

Move Your Body: “Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy!” Elle Woods said it best. Go get those endorphins going!

Get Informed: Granted the news and world events are kind of depressing at times but being informed makes you a better person mentally which will make you happier in the long run!

Treat Yourself: When all else fails treat yourself! Seriously, go get a mani/pedi, buy the latte, buy the shoes, get a new lip gloss. It will boost that mood quick!

Clean Up Your Space: A messy space cannot be good for anyone’s mood. When I feel stressed I have to be in a tidy, organized space. It always gives me a lift and makes me feel so much better.

I hope you can use at least 1 of these 9 ways to feel happier and maybe brighten your day and someones else’s!

What would you add to this list?

Go to the movies. Actually, that was note to myself. Hihihihhihihihihi….

I would add that you do that one thing that takes you to Cloud 9. For me, it is seeing a movie, the cinema is my favorite spot. Well, for now, at least.

Thank you for sharing this blog post, it made me happy. I feel nostalgic remembering happy times.

    Yaaaaaas!

Getting outside, cleaning my space and treating myself are big ones for me. And of course I live and die by the schedule.

If I had to add one: enjoy a childish pleasure. Watch a throwback cartoon and eat cereal on the couch, have a popcicle, colour! I find these activities sometimes just make me feel happy and safe in away more adult activities (drinking, reading the news, blogging) do not always.

Sometimes if I’m feeling in a funk, I take a nap, cook a good meal, sit down and read a book, or even just blast through my to do list. Sometimes the stress of having a lot to do really gets to me and I know the only way I’ll feel better is if I get some stuff done. #adulting

For me baking or cooking makes me happy. There is something so satisfying to me about spending a long time creating something and eating it. I also love to take photos, or looking back on photos, that always makes me happy. My favorite photo subject is my pup!

Funny that you should mention routine – I think my routine’s the one that’s getting me down at the moment. I feel like I need a change and fast. So that would be mine – do something different to break the monotony.

I love this so much!!! I completely agree with you that some days we take our happiness for granted. Some days are easier than others but I feel that generally, I am a happy person. I think I would have to add to this list, putting away the phone every so often and just taking in your surroundings. Even something as silly as seeing a little kid smiling when I’m on public trans (instead of staring at my phone) can bring a smile to my face. I’m totally a believer that it’s all about the little things! Love this post.

  39. I absolutely agree with the routine one! I’ve been feeling all out of sorts this week with the holiday and we have family in town so everything has been all over the place. My kids are used to a routine and we deviate from it every once in a while, but too many days of no routine gets us all grumpy.
