The Perfect Alone Night At Home

Most of my friends have school aged kids, and at this point kiddos have been back to school for a few weeks now. I also have a few friends who are nannies for school aged kids and even more friends who are teachers!  I feel like everyone around me is exhausted and in need of the perfect alone night at home. Lets face it, when you’re exhausted the last thing you want to do is get dressed up and go out. In fact for me when I’m exhausted I crave alone time.

The Perfect Alone Night At Home

Step 1: Take a bubble bath using a fun bath bomb or bubble bath. Bonus points if you pour yourself a glass of wine and turn on some relaxing music. Maybe relaxing music isn’t your favorite? Turn on your favorite music.

Step 2: Put on the comfiest of comfy pajamas. Bonus points if you treat yourself to some new pajamas. I personally like cotton pajamas but I know a lot of people like those silky ones.

Step 3: Pamper yourself! You are tired from back to school, right? So pamper yourself with an at home pedicure to start because pretty toes just make us all happy. The second part is to give yourself the most luxurious of at home face masks. To relax, my two favorites are both from Masque Bar and they are the Pore Refining Creme Mask and The Sleeping Mask. These masks which are both available at Walgreens are my new go to masks. I have talked many times about how face masks are one of my favorite things to use to relax and feel great about myself. Something about refreshing your skin just makes everything else about life feel good. Plus these two masks are PERFECT for relaxing. If you are a teacher, a parent, or a nanny this back to school time can be rough. Self care is soooo important and utilizing amazing face masks are a great way to have a little self care. The pore refining mask made my skin look so great. I used it twice and I swear my pores were way less visible.

Step 4: Climb in bed, stream a fabulous chick flick or binge on a great show you’ve been dying to watch. Bonus if you make tea or hot chocolate to enjoy before bed. You also may choose to read a magazine or start a new book. I personally find reading to be very relaxing. The perfect night alone at home requires doing things YOU love. If you are watching a movie, pop some popcorn and enjoy!

Step 5: Get a GOOD nights sleep. You have had a relaxing bath, you have pampered yourself, you are wearing the comfiest of comfy PJ’s, and you enjoyed some alone time reading or watching something fun. It’s time to really enjoy that sleep mask and get some shut eye so you can wake up feeling like that stress of back to school time is a thing of the past! The rich smell of lavender and having an overnight mask really does help you sleep. I swear my skin felt brand new the next morning.

So I have shared the perfect alone night at home, the question is are you going to indulge?

  4. I LIVE for my nights alone, which actually sounds funny because I’m single and live alone so I get that every night. LOL But that time to do what I want and give myself what I need is truly needed for this introvert.

I almost always use a mask when I have a night or day to myself. Why not treat your skin right when you have extra time?

  16. I seriously needed this today! I love having the occasional pamper night. I think tonight I may go for the reading a book suggestion. For some reason reading helps me completely shut out everything else

  17. My ideal pampering night would be to call in a masseuse and take a hot bath. Wish it wasn’t so expensive though!

  22. Oh gosh YES!!!!! Especially the streaming a chick flick. I tend to watch those on my tablet a lot at night when I’m curled up with my pups and winding down. This sounds like such a fabulous night. I need another one of these…

  25. Alone night at home never happens, but when I do need to relax and unwind, my husband and I take a long drive for a short staycation. Sometimes, he goes for a boys night out so I can have the house all to myself. I am going to try those pore refining masks whether I am alone in the house or not. It looks like a great skin care product to try!

I love relaxing in the bathtub with a glass of wine and my iPad (either watching a tv show or reading a good book). In order to continue taking care of everyone around you, you have to take care of yourself first.

  28. Love this!! There’s nothing better than a good night at home alone (since I don’t teach, nanny or have kids I get more of those than some!) and I love taking a bubble bath at the end of a day to unwind. My favorite relaxing and pampering activity is doing my nails. Always makes me feel so much better!

Although I have no children–my 94 year old Mom keeps me hopping!! Whenever I have a free moment she decides there is something else for her to do–and since I am her chauffeur (and we don’t love together)–I always seem to be on the run. Then there are my clients and other appointments! I have been craving ALONE time recently–maybe tomorrow?

  32. I have recently discovered the amazingness of masks and want to implement them into my [lacking] beauty routine. I made a goal for September to do better in the self-care department and will be getting my nails done in a few hours for the first time in MONTHS. While I am not a parent, I am an educator by day and truly understand the need for a night alone.
