I know when you read the title you are thinking “Neely, the holidays are months and months away.” Are they though? Thanksgiving is 5 weeks from Thursday, and we all know how quickly the December holidays follow. It can be so easy to shrug off your exercise, skincare, and eating habits during the holidays because that pie looks so good, and you are just way too tired to wash your face. Plus, I mean if you are gonna eat all that food, why exercise, right? Wrong!
I want to share my three ways to get holiday ready with you so that you don’t fall in those traps of waking up in January and wondering what happened.
Tip 1: Keep up your exercise routine or start one! If you have a good exercise routine going, now is not the time to stop. If you do not have a routine, maybe now is a good time for one. It can be so tempting to skip the gym and stay on the couch with Netflix or ABC’s 25 days of Christmas along with the leftovers. But my all-time favorite quote about the gym is this “you will never regret a workout.” It is so true. So many days I can think of 100 reasons to not work out, but man when I remind myself of that, I get my booty up and go to the gym. If you don’t want to go to the gym, there are tons of great at home workouts to do, or even go for a walk after dinner or in the morning. 30 minutes is a doable amount of time we can all find time for. I really try during the holidays, when things are busy, to say to myself “I will do something every day.” Even if its 15 minutes of abs, or a 20 minute walk. Just do SOMETHING and you will feel right on track come January.
Tip 2: Don’t skip out on your skin! I think skincare is something we all can admit we can work on. During the holidays, there are parties, events, nights out with the girls, and when you walk in the door past midnight the last thing you want to do is take off your makeup. Oh goodness, just do it. I remember my mom telling me when I was younger that no matter how tired I got, never to go to sleep with makeup on. Sure over the years this has happened a handful of times. But the worst feeling is waking up with makeup on and just feeling gross. The past few weeks I have been using some RoC skincare products that have just upped my skincare game ten fold. I have especially been loving the RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream. I use my usual face wash to take off all my makeup, as well as eye makeup remover. Then I use the night cream before bed to really help with the trouble spots. The great part about this product is you will for sure see a difference in four weeks. I am almost to that point, and I can’t believe how much better my skin looks and feels. The main ingredient includes retinol, which is the #1 dermatologist recommended anti-aging ingredient. RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream is also 2x stronger than imitators. This is so helpful during the winter months, and when you are using more products on your face than usual with the holiday events. Don’t skip out on your skincare routine. You will regret it!
Tip 3: Good eats. I know that choosing salad over pie, or veggies over stuffing is a silly concept. What if I told you I don’t choose? I love holiday food, and I don’t want to miss out. My biggest tips for not over indulging and taking care of your body during the holidays is having portion control and moderation. If you want pie or stuffing, by all means have it. But maybe have one piece of pie, and half a serving of stuffing. That way you don’t feel deprived, yet you aren’t going crazy with carbs. I am a carb person through and through, and man those rolls and potatoes just get me every time. Another great tip is to have something healthy BEFORE you go to the family dinner or holiday party. I always opt for a green smoothie. It takes less than five minutes to make and will ensure that you get your veggies and fruits for the day, and that you don’t go to that party hungry. Take a blender and throw in a serving of greek yogurt, 2 big handfuls of spinach, and any berries and fruits you want. Blend it up and drink it down. You will feel much better about indulging in those holiday goodies knowing you already had something healthy in your system.
So there are my three ways to get holiday ready. Taking care of your body, your skin, and making sure you are eating right don’t take too much time. With a little planning, and a little motivation, you won’t be looking back on the upcoming holidays with any regrets.
What are your tips?

Such great tips! I don’t have an exercise routine, but I try to run a few times a week. It would be awesome to get an actual schedule down!

Love the exercise routine part. I’ve been getting into a new one and it’s helped me SO much.
The time to get holiday ready is now and these are all awesome tips! I have started a strict exercise regimen myself to combat the weight gain that I know usually accompanies all the holiday goodies.
Best Wishes,

I eat so bad during the holidays that I know my face and body will have all types of things on them I need to get ready early though and I am starting with my look so I can get myself right for the new year
These are great tips. The one I have to offer is Don’t Take It Personal. When dealing with family members who offer unsolicited and unwanted advice at holiday gatherings, take it with a grain of salt if it is not useful or helpful.
The holidays are here and now. I think that my biggest tip is to start decluttering. With holidays come family and lots of gifts which in turn create more clutter.
The Holiday’s always get so crazy it is easy to forget about taking care of yourself. These are good tips. I always feel better if my skin feel great.
I love RoC skincare products. Just this week I’ve started to increase my water intake and really start paying more attention to my skin. The winter does a number on my skin and I am starting now to make sure I am looking my best when the holidays get here
I need to take better care of my skin. I am not ready for the holidays.
I’m totally dreading the holiday winter coat I usually put on haha I wish I could find time to exercise 🙁 And I definitely need to take better care of my skin!
Great tips! I’ve got the exercise routine down, now just to work on my skincare. I’ve been getting better, but it still needs improvement so thanks for sharing your products.
wow, i did not know you were suppose to put cream on your face at night…I need to try that. I definitely need a plan.
